Dog Grooming
My dog grooming career first started in North London, Mill Hill in a dog & Cat grooming parlour called “Mad About Dogs & Cat’s”. I worked & completed a 3yrs Apprenticeship in dog & cat grooming.
In 2001, I moved my company Poppets Petcare to Barming Maidstone where I opened my own dog & cat grooming salon within my own property.
This business has gone from strength to strength over the years & now has an extensive loyal client base which we are very proud of.
I have worked tirelessly within this industry & continue to keep up with the qualification requirements needed for dog & cat grooming today.
My qualifications:
3yrs Apprenticeship in dog & cat grooming – In house training.
iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in dog grooming & salon Management.
IPET Network Level 3 Diploma in cat grooming.
Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning.
Master cat grooming course.
First aid training level 2 & 3 in dogs & Cats.
I’m a great advocate in helping other dog groomers to build their confidence with this industry. Hence I have two young dog groomers working alongside me building their own business in the salon today.

Cat grooming
I would advise my cat clients that cat grooming takes time and patience, so more than one grooming session may be required to achieve a satisfactory result.
Full grooming of coat, de-shedding, trimming /clipping, bath (if your cat allows) & claw trimming. Price: £140 - £165
De-shedding of coat, light trimming or clipping of coat if required. Price: £60 - £85
Full clipping of coat due to heavy matting or fully pelted coats. Price: £125 - £165
For all first-time dog or cat grooms, I would advise owners to send me pictures of their fur babies’ coat before I can quote & book you an appointment

Matted Dog Disclaimer

Severely matted coats can cause discomfort, skin irritation, and hidden health concerns, and in many cases may require clipping the coat short to remove the matting safely and humanely. By signing this disclaimer, you acknowledge that grooming a matted dog carries increased risks, including minor nicks, skin irritation, redness, or exposure of pre-existing skin conditions that may have been hidden beneath the coat.
You authorise Poppets Pet Care to use the most appropriate grooming methods for your dog’s welfare, including shaving where necessary, and accept that the final grooming result may be shorter than expected. Any veterinary care required due to pre-existing matting or related conditions remains the responsibility of the owner.

Shave Down Waiver
It is recognised that there can be a variety of skin and hair coat care problems that may occur after a complete shave down of a dog, particularly the double coated dogs or those often referred to as the fur bearing rather than hair bearing dogs.
Those problems/conditions that may occur following a shave down include, but are not limited to:

Loss of hair growth

“Coat Funk” – the coat not growing back in the same texture and or colour prior to shaving

Bald patches
-
Hyper pigmentation of the skin - Darkening of the skin where the coat has not grown back

Sunburn
-
Loss of Guard Coat – Top Layer of Coat

Coat re-growth in different direction (cowlick’s)

Clipper burn
-
Your signature on this form confirms that you have given permission for Poppets Petcare to shave down your dog and that you are aware of the conditions that may occur following this activity. You release Poppets Petcare from any responsibility of any and all the above and additional conditions should they occur on your pet or the pet you are representing as a result of him/her being shaved down.
You agree to use Sun Protector Sunscreen 2 times a day for 3 weeks after the shave down to reduce the chance of sunburn.
